Medical Nail Treatment
Medical Nail Treatment Options
Ingrown Toenails
Ingrown Toenails are one of the most common complaints seen by Podiatrists They are very painful, and need specialist treatment, as they cannot resolve by themselves. They can be acute, and occur due to an injury to the toe, or they can be chronic, which means the patient has had the problem for a long period of time.
It is usually the large toe which is affected, however, it can also affect the smaller toes. An Ingrown toenail is when a splinter spike or side of the nail grows into the skin at the side of the toe. It most
commonly affects teenagers and young adults, however it can affect any age group.
It’s also important to seek medical advice if you have diabetes and an ingrown toenail. Having
diabetes could affect how your toenail heals.
Callus Peel
The Pedi Peel is formulated to remove dead skin as well as calluses without damaging normal skin.
No neutralizer is required and the treatment only takes 12-15 min. This is a very effective and safe
treatment giving remarkable results.

Toenail Reconstruction
Toe Nail Reconstruction is a simple and painless procedure which replaces missing or damaged toenails. This may be due to injury, or nails which have crumbled away due to an extensive fungal infection. It is a method of restoring the toe nail providing an attractive cosmetic result. It improves the overall appearance of your feet. Nail reconstruction can benefit if you are affected by fungal nails, unsightly, discoloured, deformed, totally or partially missing nails. The elastic gel adjusts to the movements of the nails and feet. Thus the artificial nail feels completely natural, since it fits perfectly onto the natural nail. This is not to be confused with an acrylic nail, instead it is designed to look and feel exactly the same as a natural nail. This service is particularly popular throughout the Spring and Summer when you may wish to bare your feet in open toed sandals or walk barefoot on that lovely beach on holiday. The nail will essentially look and cut just as a regular toe nail and no-one will be any wiser that the nail is not real. Reconstruction is where individual nails are moulded to create a personalised fit and colour match for each patient. The nails are made from an extremely strong, elastic and flexible resin, called pedique which sets when exposed to UV-A light.
- This fungal-resistant resin is layered directly onto the nail bed. This creates a new nail placed on top
of existing or damaged nails. The treatment can be combined with anti-fungal Mycosept Therapy, to
cure the fungal nail infection at the same time. Topical anti-fungal preparations may continue to be
used with the reconstructed nails. This will not damage the natural nail as it regrows. The gel has
antifungal properties, meaning that any nails which have a fungal infection will be treated. The nail
that is reconstructed will not damage the natural nail or restrict growth. This means that the natural
nail is able to grow unaffected.
The treatment is suitable for both men and woman as there is a choice of a natural matt or a glossy
French polish finish. It has been developed specifically for correcting and restoring missing or
damaged toe nails.
The gel is also available in a variety of colours to match in with most natural nail shades and if desired your other nails can be given an overlay to create a matching cosmetic finish.
The results can be very long lasting but Nail reconstruction isn’t a permanent solution. The length of time that the nail reconstruction lasts will vary from person to person. At some point you may have
to return to have the nail removed and another one applied. We find once you’ve had it done once you will be so pleased with the result you won’t be without it.
A reconstructed toenail may be treated in exactly the same way as you would treat a normal nail,
this means that if you wish to you can apply nail varnish and use a nail varnish remover.
